Ender’s Shadow

Are you a Science Fiction fanatic?  Do you love books about war?  What about children trying to survive?  The book Ender’s Shadow, by Orson Scott Card unites all of these qualities in a single book.  This book is made for all of us sci-fi lovers.  It combines war between alien races with the survival of young, not so innocent children.

Bean is four at the beginning of the book and is barely surviving on the streets of Rotterdam, a city full of children literally fighting to survive.  An outcast from birth, Bean is more interested in watching the other children to try and discover the motives behind what they do than to find food. Finally he decides they have no motives and that they are just stupid (compared to him anyways).  After this discovery Bean decides to create a civilization on the streets of Rotterdam.  As a result of this decision, Bean finds an enemy in the murderous Achilles and a savior in Sister Carlotta, a nun whose job is to search for highly intelligent children for Battle School.

After being sent to Battle School, a school to train future commanders for the Second Battle with the hostile aliens known as the Buggers, Bean is set with a whole new set of problems and rules.  Bean is up to the challenge as he tries to discover the secrets of the school, the Buggers, and the semi-famous kid known as Ender.

This wonderful book is a must read for anyone who has even the slightest love of books! It was a wonderful and compelling story that I have read over and over again.
